Week 9 Office Pool picks

If you are lucky enough to still be in a Survivor Pool in your office pool at this juncture of the season, then this a tough week to pick your team. Many Survivor pools were decimated so early — think New England week 2 — that we at 5sop.com have added a mid-season Survivor office pool to keep the action alive. When the pool kicks off this week, you players will have to pick two teams each/week, and no team more than once.

Mid-Season office pool Survivor Pick – The obvious choice would be to take the 6-1 Houston Texans at home over the Buffalo Bills, however picking one of the biggest favorites of the week has been a losing strategy for most of the season. My number one pick would be to take the Seattle Seahawks at home against the Minnesota Vikings. I think the Vikings have clearly out performed everyone’s expectations, and it appears that reality has finally set in after the Bucs game. In addition the Seahawks are a terrific team at home, and there should be no reason why they will not win, and probably even cover the -5 point spread. The other team that would be a good pick for a Survivor pool would be the Baltimore Ravens on the road against the Cleveland Browns. It will probably be a tight game, but under John Harbaugh the Ravens are 4-0 after the bye week.

Handicapper office pool – In a handicapper pool you need to pick the team that will cover the spread either as a favorite or as an underdog. In addition to picking the Ravens in the survivor pool I would also pick them to cover the -3 1/2 point spread. With an extra week to prepare, and get healthy, don’t be surprised if the Ravens come out and pound the Browns by more than a touchdown.
