There are many types of office pools out there on the web, but two of my favorites are the Survivor Pools and Handicapper Pools. At Five Star Office Pools, we offer both of these pools – check https://5sop.com/giveaway for the current offers. Below I would like to recommend a pick for either your NFL survivor pools or your NFL handicapper pools – or for the football gambling fans out there – for any bet you want to make.
Survivor Pools Pick – Usually I do not like to pick the team that is given the biggest spread of the week, because most of the time that means every one else is picking that team as well. It would be a real shame if that team lost and you were one of the players knock out in the exodus pick. However, this week I will have to go against my strategy, because it is too difficult to stay away from picking the New England Patriots to win at home against the Jets. The main reason I like the Pats is because they are home and they are coming off a loss. These guys always play well after a loss, and they are 28-10-1 against the spread in their last 39 games following a straight up loss. In addition the Pats are 4-1 against the spread in their last 5 games following an against the spread loss. Also in the last 7 meetings the home team is 5-2 against the spread. Everything is not only pointing to a Patriots victory, but to them even covering the -10 1/2 spread, so it feels right picking them just to win as a survivor pool pick in week 7.
Handicapper Pool – This office pool entails picking a team that will cover the spread, regardless if they are laying points or getting points. This is obviously the more difficult of the two pools. For this week I would like to suggest going with an underdog. The Jacksonville Jaguars are coming off a bye and will be on the road against the Oakland Raiders. The Jags are 5-2-1 against the spread in their last 8 road games, whereas the Raiders are 1-4 against the spread in their last 5 home games versus a team with a losing road record. In addition the Jags are 4-0 against the spread in the last 4 meetings between these two teams. The Jags are getting +4 points, and if they lose they will only lose by 3, so they should be the pick in this type of office pool.
